Kṛṣṇa: You are Fascinating

It’s simply fascinating to express affection for You. You are truly one-of-a-kind, unlike anyone the world has ever known.

Your personality is so beautifully integrated and complete. Your characteristics are so fluid and seamless that it’s difficult to pinpoint a specific quality. Yes, You are naughty but a deep philosopher too. You are courageous but chose to run away from battle and call Yourself “Ranchod”. You defeated seven bulls single-handedly, yet struggled with carrying Your father’s footwear.

You were so considerate towards Putana, even while punishing her. You conveyed nonviolence as worship but used weapons against the adharmik.

One of Your most fascinating qualities is that, despite being actively involved in every aspect of Bharata Khanda, You never chose to be a king, a kingmaker, or even a remote controller. Once You establish dharma, You leave the country allowing the people to choose their own leaders.

These four qualities are unique yet seamlessly integrated within You. You are Dharmajna, Rasajna, Rajagna, and Tattvajna— the personification of dharma, a fountain of mellows, a brilliant diplomat, and a profound thinker like no other.

Those who are social and interactive with everyone are rarely deep thinkers. Yet, You enjoyed deep connections with many bhaktas. When you called for Your mother during Your departure from this world, three mothers came—Devaki, Yashoda, and even Putana—to see You.

At the same time, Your philosophy is deeply life-centric, with a flavor of life-beyond. The Gita is profound, poetic, and practical—its knowledge is inspiring, not imposing. It harmonizes action with destiny. You brilliantly synthesized the idea of taking no responsibility for the jiva while assuring protection for the living entity.

Your nishkama philosophy is so realistic. It’s about performing action with full energy, knowing that result will certainly come, but not focusing on it. How could You be so involved and yet think so deeply?

Your diplomacy is beyond brilliance, being peace-maker was a masterstroke. Duryodhana was exposed, he could not agree for five villages knowing very well Pandavas would expand from there and eventually capture everything. So he was caught between fire and the frying pan. By denying the five villages, he sounded extremely illogical and became the object of everyone’s anger and curse.

In case of Jarasandha, how You eliminated him without shooting even a single arrow is phenomenal. You begged charity for dual battle and Jarasandha was ripped off by Bhima. Magadha acquired a new king, Sahadeva, the son of Jarasandha. The citizens did not rebell at the death of their king, at the same time big hurdle for Rajasuya was destroyed. There was no violence no war and not even a single arrow was shot. On the other hand, those who preached radical nonviolence became responsible for killing millions of people indirectly during the partition of Bharata.

Your diplomacy was always for dharma, never for Your personal gain. You never became king, nor did You appoint Your sons as the kings of Dwaraka or force some portfolio in Hastinapura. There was no personal agenda in Your actions.

Sri Krishna, Your personal traits are sweet, simple and enchanting, but they are reserved to those few, who are extension of Your own heart: the Gopi’s of Vrindavana, Your cowherd friends and all the elderly Gopis and Gopas headed by Nanda and Yashoda. Even the animals went beyond being simply animals. The cows, calves, buffalo, monkeys, the peacock and the deer were all mesmerized by You.

Sri Krishna, describing You seems endless. You keep coming to this world always & again and again, offering countless opportunities for one and all to experience Your integral personality. Your coming to this world means our eventually not coming to this world. Until then, we fight for dharma and continue to be more and more captivated and fascinated by You.
