Farmers are the backbone of a country who works with patience in all seasons to feed the masses. There are two kinds of farmers: one is a farmer who cultivates farm and the other is one who uses his black money to convert it as farm income and keeps agitating farmers for his personal advantage.

The true farmer slog himself to make two ends meet and try to grow something for others benefit. But, the thug who claims to be a farmer agitates the true farmers through protest for loan wavers, different kinds of policies and anything that actually benefits ordinary farmers.

It is the time for society, to stand by farmers who are real to empower them so that they can feed better and plenty of food grains, fruits and vegetables to all of us.

I found this poem to be the essence of a real farmer’s life.

ಇವನೆ ನೋಡು ಅನ್ನದಾತ
ಹೊಲದಿ ದುಡಿದೇ ದುಡಿವನು
ನಾಡ ಜನರು ಬದುಕಲೆಂದು
ದವಸ ಧಾನ್ಯ ಬೆಳೆವನು

Here is a true farmer who grows food grains so that people of that land can live happily.

ಮಳೆಯ ಗುಡುಗು ಚಳಿಯ ನಡುಗು
ಬಿಸಿಲ ಬೇಗೆ ಸಹಿಸುತ
ಬೆವರು ಸುರಿಸಿ ಕಷ್ಟ ಸಹಿಸಿ
ಒಂದೇ ಸವನೆ ದುಡಿಯುತ

He works relentlessly without caring for heat, cold and rain.

ಗಟ್ಟಿ ದೇಹ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನಸು
ದೇವನಿಂದ ಪಡೆದನು
ಯೋಗಿಯಾಗಿ ತ್ಯಾಗಿಯಾಗಿ
ಅನ್ನ ನೀಡುತಿರುವನು

He is a true yogi and tyagi, he gets a strong body and large heart from God himself to provide for all of us.

ಎತ್ತು ಎರಡು ಅವನ ಜೋಡು
ಕೂಡಿ ದುಡಿವ ಗೆಳೆಯರು
ಹಿಗ್ಗು ಕುಗ್ಗು ಏನೇ ಇರಲಿ
ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡು ನಡೆವರು

His colleagues are his bulls, good times or bad times they adjust and move in the fields.

Indeed, a farmer not just cultivates the crops but he is the craftsman of a nations prosperity .
